03 - TOURNAMENT FORMAT

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Play will be Match Play with a guaranteed $21,000 purse.

 

Play shall be governed in accordance with the Rules of Golf of the R&A, Golf Canada and USGA, as modified by the East Coast Pro Tour Local Rules and Terms of the Competition (Hard Card) and supplemented by the applicable Notice to Players.  Questions or disputes (including equipment rulings) shall be settled by the on-site Rules Committee appointed by the East Coast Pro Tour, whose decision shall be final.

 

ECPT reserves the right to change the format, venue(s), qualifying spots and allotments, and other criteria set forth herein as presently contemplated due to adverse weather or other circumstances.

04 - ELIGIBILITY

ELIGIBILITY

Professionals and Amateurs with a handicap factor of five (5.0) or less when applied to the qualifying course slope. The ECPT reserves the right to verify the handicap factor of amateurs and refuse anyone not meeting the requirements.

 

ECPT welcomes male and female professionals. All players will compete for the same purse. Women will play approximately 90% of the men’s yardage.

05 - PRACTICE ROUNDS

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice round tee times will be available prior to the tournament. Please contact the proshop to reserve your tee time. Groups of more than 4 players are not permitted.

06 - STARTING TIMES

STARTING TIMES

Official tee times will be posted 48 hours prior to the first round. Starting times and pairings are made at the discretion of the tournament organization. Specific requests will not be granted. Official tee times will be available at the host facility and on the Golf Genius tournament website. Tee-Times will also be texted to each player, so it is the player’s responsibility to provide a contact number and enable text messages on the registration form.

 

Starting times for the last round will be fixed based on tournament standings at the conclusion of the preceding round.  No special requests will be granted for the last round of the competition.

 

For the players to get all the essential information before the round, we ask all players to be at the First Tee-Box at least 5 minutes before the tee times. Any player, not ready to play at the prescribed tee time will get a 2-stroke penalty. If the player is more than 5 minutes late, he will be disqualified. (Rule 5.3a)

07 - CONDUCT

CONDUCT

While on host facility property, players and caddies shall conduct themselves in a professional manner.  ECPT reserves the right to remove a player from the tournament for: non-competitiveness; conduct unbecoming a professional by the player; conduct unbecoming a professional by the players’ caddie.

08 - MEASURING DEVICES

MEASURING DEVICES

Distance-Measuring Devices are permitted in the tournament (scope, watch, mobile app). Only the distance measuring feature may be used. Other features such as Slope are prohibited from use during official competition rounds.

 

GREEN READING BOOKS

A player is allowed to use a putting green map.

  • Any book or other paper containing a map or image of a putting green must not be larger than 4 ¼ inches X 7 inches.
  • Any image of a putting green must be limited to a scale of 3/8 inch to 5 yards (1:480) or smaller
  • No magnification of putting green information is allowed other than the player’s normal wearing of prescription glasses or lenses
  • Hand drawn or written information about a putting green is only allowed if contained in a book or paper
  • meeting the size limit and written by the player and/or their caddie.   

MEASURING CONDITION OF PUTTING GREENS

The Rules of Golf state that before a round or playoff on any day of a stroke play competition, a competitor must not practice on the competition course or test the surface of any putting green on the course by rolling a ball or roughing or scraping the surface.

ECPT has adopted the following policy which applies to any ECPT Competition

  •  Players and caddies ARE NOT permitted to use a device that measures the condition (slope, texture, firmness or moisture level) of any putting green on the course on any day of a stroke play or match play competition. The use of such device is only permitted on practice days.
  • A player or caddie who does not comply with this policy is subject to disciplinary action under the ECPT Code of Conduct

09 - ENTRY DEADLINE

ENTRY DEADLINE

The deadline to register for the Match Play Championship is 5:00pm (EST) on August 7, 2023. 

LATE ENTRY DEADLINE

Any players who miss this deadline can still sign up until 5:00pm (EST) August 10, 2023, but will be charged a late fee of $50 for their entry.

10 - REFUND POLICY

REFUND POLICY

Competitors who wish to withdraw from a championship should inform a member of the ECPT staff at their earliest convenience. ALL withdrawal requests must be sent via email to info@eastcoastprotour.com.

Refunds will be processed based on the following criteria:

  • Prior to entries closing: Any applicant who cancels their entry seven (7) days before the tournament will receive a refund of their entry fee (minus a $50 fee).
  • Within six (6) days of the event, or on the day of the event: NO refunds will be given. In case of illness or injury, a medical exemption and transfer of entry fee to another ECPT event may be requested in writing (medical doctor’s note required).

The ECPT staff kindly requests that players who know they need to withdraw from an event do so as soon as possible as a sign of respect and courtesy to the host clubs.

 

In the event a competitor qualifies for a PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour LatinoAmerica, LPGA Tour, or Epson Tour event that coincides with an ECPT event and wishes to withdraw from the ECPT event, a full refund will be issued if notified by the end of the day of the qualifier.

12 - AMATEUR STATUS

AMATEUR STATUS

An amateur is eligible to earn up to $1,200 CAD in prize money as stipulated by the USGA / Golf Canada and their rules of Amateur Status (2022). Should an amateur finish in a paid position that awards greater than $1,200 CAD, the amount in excess of $1,200 CAD won’t be distributed amongst the players. It will be added to the purse at the Tour Championship at the end of the 2023 ECPT season. 

 

An amateur participating in the Training Division is NOT eligible for the purse. 

13 - TRAINING DIVISION

TRAINING DIVISION

The East Coast Pro Tour has introduced a new Training Division that allows amateur players with a handicap factor of five (5.0) or less, when applied to the qualifying course slope, to compete alongside the professionals and improve their skills. The main objective of the Training Division is to offer aspiring amateurs the opportunity to play with the pros and gain valuable experience, and as such, NO purse will be allocated.

 

It is important to note that players cannot switch their eligibility to the purse after the entry deadline has passed.

MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP INFO

To qualify for the Match Play Championship, players must participate in their designated qualifier. The top 16 players from each qualifier will be seeded 1 through 16. If there are fewer than 16 players in the seeding round, some players will receive byes.

The top 4 players from each region (QC, ONT, ATL, USA) will compete in the Match Play Championship August 21-22 at Club de Golf Le Portage (L’Assomption, QC) with a guaranteed $21,000 purse. In addition, the top 4 players from each region will earn an exemption into the Canada Cup.

The Round of 16 and Round of 8 matches in each division will be played internally, with competitors scheduling the date, time, and course of their matches.

  • The Round of 16 must be completed before July 14
  • The Round of 8 must be completed before August 1

Players must complete their rounds before the specified deadline. Failure to do so will result in elimination for both players, and their potential next competitor will advance automatically.

If a qualified player (one of the top 4 from a region) is unable to participate in the final, their spot will be given to the highest-seeded player eliminated in the previous round.

Once the regional seeding order is established, the complete registration fee will be charged to players who secure a position within the top 16 of their respective regions.

MATCH PLAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

AUG 21 (AM) – Round 1 (Match Play Regional Semi-final) – 1vs4 & 2vs3 of each region. 

AUG 21 (PM) – Round 2 (Match Play Regional Final) – Winner of morning round of each region.

AUG 22 (AM) – Round 3 (Match Play Semi-final) – A random draw will determine the matchups between the remaining players from each region. 

  • IF Ontario VS Quebec THEN Atlantic VS USA
  • IF Ontario VS Atlantic THEN Québec VS USA
  • IF Ontario VS USA THEN Québec VS Atlantic

AUG 22 (PM) – Round 4 (Match Play Final) – The final match will feature the two remaining players. No consolation match for players finishing 3rd and 4th. They will share the points and purse equally as T3.
